LOOKING UP
Worship (~10-15 mins)

Bible Study (30 mins)
Context: After the brokenness of humanity that we see unfold in Genesis 1-11, God begins his redemptive plan for humanity by calling an extended family to come with Him on His mission to all people.
Have two people read the passage out loud.
(Genesis 11:31-12:5 NIV)
“Terah took his son Abram, his grandson Lot son of Haran, and his daughter-in-law Sarai, the wife of his son Abram, and together they set out from Ur of the Chaldeans to go to Canaan. But when they came to Harran, they settled there.
Terah lived 205 years, and he died in Harran.
The LORD had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.
“I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.”
So Abram went, as the LORD had told him; and Lot went with him. Abram was seventy-five years old when he set out from Harran. He took his wife Sarai, his nephew Lot, all the possessions they had accumulated and the people they had acquired in Harran, and they set out for the land of Canaan, and they arrived there.”

Questions:
  • What stands out to you from this passage? Why?
  • What does this passage reveal about God?
  • What does this passage reveal about people (e.g. Abram, the nations, Abram’s family, others)?
  • Share a situation where God has invited you to leave something behind in order to step into what He wants to give you. What was that experience like?
  • In what ways have you been the recipient of God’s blessing through others who have followed His call to them? How does this inform what God might want to do through you?

LOOKING FORWARD (10 mins)
In smaller groups, discuss the following:
  • Tell a story of how you have received blessings from God as you follow Him (this is the basis of your testimony: practice being able to tell this story in 2  minutes or less).
  • In what ways has God called you to be a blessing to others?
  • Take some time to pray for God to show you who you can be a blessing to, and how you can bless them.
