Find out what stage of growth your Lifegroup is in + best practices for multiplying!

For any living thing, a natural result of healthiness is growth! As Lifegroup leaders, we "water" and nurture our Lifegroup, and over time, we see God bring life and fruit. Eventually, you will find yourselves at a point where you may reach capacity - ex: more people than you have space for, multiple emerging leaders, or group members who feel called to start a new group.
While you can't force growth, you can prepare for it. An important way to set culture about growth and multiplication is to bring it up regularly to group members. Growth is an exciting part of being in a Lifegroup!

There are typically 2 Types of Multiplication:
1. Traditional Multiplication (1 group becomes 2) Leadership teams are prayerfully picked, people are given an opportunity to pray where they will go, and the Lifegroup becomes two Lifegroups roughly the same size.
2. Lifegroup “Plant” - A Lifegroup “planting team” is established, made up of leaders and a small number of people from the original group who will start an entirely new group. Simultaneously, the original group continues to meet.

Questions to ask yourselVES about multiplying
- What is God saying?
- Do we have enough prepared leaders?
- Do we have enough people?
Once you've decided you will multiply, here's steps for how to roll things out:
- Discuss and pray with co-leaders and your coach about timing & strategy.
- Decide: will you do a regular multiplication or a Lifegroup plant?
- Set a date you want to multiply by.
- Cast vision to the group and give them time to process and pray. Clearly give vision for why and how. Don’t let it come “out of nowhere.”
- Announce leadership teams. Leaders can consider inviting a few people with them (depending on giftings, where people live, pre-existing relationships, etc.)
- Celebrate! Have a party to celebrate all that God did and pray for each other and you send each other out.
