Listening Journal (Immanuel Prayer)

God wants to speak to you! A practical way to practice listening is with a listening journal, which is when you write down a dialogue between you and God. Here’s a few ways to get started.
- Ask and expect God to speak. Silence other voices.
- Write down your questions, thoughts, reflections to God. Write the spontaneous flow of your thoughts. Don’t think about it at this point - just write what comes. Ex: Ask, Father, what kind of relationship do You want to have with me? and write whatever comes to mind.
- In a different font or color, write down what comes to your mind. Write first, discern later. Continue the dialogue. Receive anything that is encouraging and life-giving by thanking Him and rejoicing in the truth. Worship.
- Immanuel Journaling is a way to dialogue with God about a particular area your struggling with, and listening to hear His voice. You can read more about Immanuel Journaling from Soul Shepherding here.
