Week 6: Sharing our Faith

LOOKING BACK
  • Vision: this is a space for us to encounter God together, help each other follow Jesus,  and invite others to do the same.
  • Check in: How have you been doing this week? Where have you seen God move? What’s been challenging?
  • Following Jesus & inviting others:  How has God's Word been impacting you? How are you letting God work through you to draw others closer to him?

LOOKING UP
Discovery Bible Study: Acts 1:1-9
In verse 8, Jesus declares, “you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” The Greek for witnesses is martys, which can be like when you’re a witness in a legal sense (testify what you’ve seen). What are ways you have witnessed God show up and transformed your life in big and small ways? What hope has God given you that you want to pass on to others?
  • Have members summarize or retell the story in their own words.
  • What stands out to me from this passage?
  • What do I learn about God?
  • What do I learn about people or myself?
  • What might God want to say to me through this passage?
  • What would it look like to put this into practice this week? Is God asking me to do something as a result of this passage?

One practical tool for sharing the Gospel is using the Three Circles, a simple storytelling method. We’ll learn it and practice it today, with the goal to share it sometime this week!
  1. Watch this quick Three Circles video.
  2. Get out some paper and take turns practicing the Three Circles with one another. (Feel free to adapt it to make it feel natural to you.)

Prayer & Commissioning:
  • Lord, who in my life needs to hear the Gospel? Take some time to pray and ask God where to go and/or to highlight a friend or family member He wants you to share with. One easy way to approach a stranger is to say, “I just learned this visual tool explaining why we need Jesus. Do you have a couple minutes so I can practice by sharing it with you?”
  • Pray for the people/person He brought to mind.
  • Commit to sharing the Three Circles with someone between now and the next time we meet.
