Week 3: Facetime

LOOKING BACK
  • Vision: this is a space for us to encounter God together, help each other follow Jesus,  and invite others to do the same.
  • Check in: How have you been doing this week? Where have you seen God move? What’s been challenging?
  • Following Jesus & inviting others:  How has God's Word been impacting you? How are you letting God work through you to draw others closer to him?

LOOKING UP
Have a “facetime” together in order to model what our personal time with God can look like. “Facetime” comes from Exodus 33:11 where God would speak to Moses face-to-face, as one speaks to a friend. In the same way, God wants to speak to us face-to-face and draw us into a deep friendship with him. Here’s what a facetime could look like:
  • Worship:  Through songs or prayers of thanksgiving and praise. (Check our Spotify Playlist!)
  • Discovery Bible Study:  John 15:1-17 (you can read it either together or individually).
    • Have members summarize or retell the story in their own words.
    • What stands out from this passage? What’s God saying to me in this passage?
    • What do I learn about God? What do I learn about people or myself?
    • What would it look like to put this into practice this week? Is God asking me to do something as a result of this passage?
  • Journal:  Write down what you’re learning through the passage then pray it. You can write out what God has shown you, your prayers and what you feel like he might be saying in response, too.
  • Prayer:  Pray for today/tomorrow and for others. Pray for the people and situations you will be facing and invite God into those places.
    • Think through the family, friends, coworkers, etc. in your life and ask God if he has any ways he wants you to pray for them.

LOOKING FORWARD
Practice & Application: Facetime isn’t just something we do together, but something that we can do on our own each day. It can start small, and grow as you build it into your daily routine. A few questions to discuss:
  • When is a good time for me to have my facetime with God this week?
  • How can we help each other create space to have our facetimes?
  • Do we want to read through a Gospel together? If so, how many chapters per week is doable? (You can also find Bible reading plans through the YouVersion Bible app).

Prayer & Commissioning:
Pray for each other to have some awesome facetimes this week as we grow in intimacy with Jesus!
