Philippians Devos

Week Four, Day 2 - Philippians 4:4-7 | Rejoice Always

Philippians 4:4-7 (hyperlink)
Devotional:
In Philippians 4:4-7, Paul encourages the Philippians to rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances. What a powerful reminder that our joy, prayer, and gratitude should not be based on our circumstances, but on our faith in God who is always with us. Paul’s life is not absent of fear yet he’s discovered that it's through rejoicing, praying and giving thanks amidst his circumstances that he is able to experience the peace of God that transcends all understanding and guards our hearts and minds.

Questions:
  • What stands out to you from the text?
  • What can you rejoice about today?
  • What circumstances in your life, big or small, can you bring to God in prayer?
  • What can you give thanks for today? Write them out or tell God out loud.

Prayer:
God, thank you for today. Thank you that even in the midst of my circumstances I can choose to rejoice and give thanks today as a way to access your peace. I thank you for (list things you are thankful for). God, I invite your perfect peace to fill me and to guard my heart and mind.
