God’s heart for the church of Philippi is to live in a manner worthy of the gospel and stand firm in the Spirit, striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose them. Paul believes that suffering is part of the Christian life and walk, and it has been granted to Jesus’ followers to not only believe in Him but also suffer for Him on behalf of the gospel.

Father God, I thank You for Your unifying Spirit that empowers me to live in a manner worthy of Your name. I recognize that both Your Spirit and this lifestyle are a gift to myself, my community, and those around me. Would You speak to me through Your Spirit and help me understand what it means to suffer for the gospel of Jesus today. In Jesus’ name I pray, amen.
