Holy Week

Dear Epicentre Family,

It is hard to believe that this Sunday will be our 4th Sunday of Home Church Live. We have been amazed to see how many of you have jumped in to pray at our Hour of Power, are proactively reaching out to one another, offering to help and give where needed, and stepping up to be the Church in this hour. One thing we do not want to miss in this season is the opportunity to be salt and light to people around us. As we prepare to enter into Holy Week tomorrow (Palm Sunday), let’s take time to remember what Jesus has done for us AND also share this message of forgiveness and hope to others!

Jesus reminded his people, in Mark 11:17, that God’s house is meant to be a house of prayer for all nations. God’s heart is for nations to come to know Him, and He invites us to pray for it to become reality. Let’s pray:
  • For prodigals, those who have walked away from their relationships with Jesus, to come home;
  • For those who do not know Jesus to have encounters with His love and receive His forgiveness and hope during a time when the world has very little hope to offer;
  • For healing of relationships between nations, whether that’s between ethnic groups or between geopolitical countries through this crisis, as we realize it takes all of us together to find a cure for the virus and to overcome the impact of this pandemic on everyone’s livelihood, especially those who are economically disadvantaged.
  • For the spirit of unity to replace any kind of racism and discrimination seeking to rise during this time.

We continue to encourage you to do what you can to help flatten the curve on COVID-19, as a responsible citizen and a compassionate follower of Jesus. As we talked to medical professionals in our church family and asked how we can pray and support them, many emphasized the most important way to support them is to adhere to the safer-at-home order, practicing compassionate distancing and wearing masks or facial coverings when going out. Minimizing the spread of the virus helps to lighten the pressure on the medical system. Let’s support our medical professionals practically by following the government’s recommendation!

Since it looks like we will be staying/working from home for at least a few more weeks, it is important you make sure you are healthy spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically.  Think about where you are at in these areas and look for ways to strengthen the areas that are weak. Reach out to your community for help and connection. Do not go through this season alone! Join a Home Church if you are not part of one yet!

Easter is right around the corner! This year, people who have been far from Jesus are finding themselves in need of greater spiritual support. We are preparing a Sunday Home Church experience that is filled with hope. We encourage you to invite your friends, family, and coworkers to jump on the webstream, or better yet, invite them to join your Home Church to view together.

On Good Friday, next Friday, April 10, we are preparing an interactive reflection experience which we encourage Home Church Groups and Life Groups to do together.  A guide will be available on our website and through social media next Thursday.

TOMORROW (4/5) is Palm Sunday and we will be taking communion together during our Home Church Live. Please prepare elements from whatever you have at home - bread, crackers, juice, water. It sure will be a memorable communion in our history!

We are praying for you, and we love you!
