Reflection Questions

Below are reflection questions that will help you go deeper with each Sunday’s message. Take some time and reflect on them either by yourself, with your home group, or with your lifegroup.

November 29, 2020 

1.  Share your reflection on how you have felt abandoned or not heard in recent days.
2. Share your prayer of declaration of hope and thanksgiving with your community.
3. Spend time praying each person's prayer of declaration back into their lives.

November 22, 2020 

1.  Where do you feel confined or constricted in this season of life? What's your go-to response?
2.  What practical HOPE steps might God be calling you to take in order to unleash the inner breakthrough you need?

November 15, 2020 

1. We looked at two main characters: (a) the disabled man who needed the help of God and others; (b) Peter and John, who had the Spirit of God within them and were able to help this man. Which person do you most relate to and why?
2. Is there someone you need to either (a) reach out to and pray for or (b) share this message with?

November 1, 2020 

1. What attributes of this new people does the world need today?
2. What’s one practical way you can put this to practice this week?
3. Take some time as a whole group or a life group to pray for unity for the church now.

October 18, 2020 - Made For Divine Alignment

1. What are you devoted to?
2. God, what are you showing me about God, help me to see how the crooked gospel of self-fulfillment has infected my heart and worldview today?
3. What are the purposes of God that I should be aligning to? How do I prepare to share the good news of Jesus with the world?

October 11, 2020 - Made For Fullness

1. Are there parts of your life where the possibility of certain events or the actions of certain people loom greater than God?
2. Pastor John mentioned 3 principles regarding race (missions, culture and slow understanding). Which one struck you and why?
3. How might God be calling you to pray and work towards uprightness in our world?

October 4, 2020 - Made For Inheritance

1. Is there an area of your life where you’ve been offended because God has met an expectation you had that He work in a particular way or for a specific outcome?
2. God knows what our inheritance is (who we’re meant to be and what we’re meant to do in Him, rather than something to strive for). For the church, it was Acts 1.8. What do you understand as your inheritance?

September 27, 2020 - Made For Deep Love

1. What does Satan's sifting and attack against you (and/or your family look like?
2. What is Jesus's word to you in the midst of this?
3. What aspect of God's love from I Cor 13.4-7 do you think you need most right now?

September 20, 2020 - Made For Peace in Chaos

1. What burdens or yokes weigh heavy on my heart right now?
2. When God looks at me and who I'm supposed to be 20 years from now, what does He see me free from?
3. Are there some specific things He's inviting me to let go of today?
4. How can those around me pray for me in the coming days?

September 13, 2020 - Made For This Time

1. What’s been most challenging about this season for you (or your family)?
2. How does knowing that God knows this time as is with you change how your attitude or mindset about your present challenges?
3. What 1 or 2 practical things is God speaking to you in order to make more space for His work in you to be more fully established?

September 6, 2020 - Selah Service

1.  Share the fallen and pruned branches you have identified from your spiritual season of fall, if you feel comfortable.
2. Share the hope you received and are holding onto during your spiritual season of winter.

August 30, 2020 - Unity In Our Neighborhood

SERMON REFLECTION QUESTIONS
1.  Since I know Jesus is praying for unity for the church today, ask Jesus "who are some Christians in my life that I’ve been avoiding conversations with (because I’m afraid it’s going to cause fleshly responses in me)?" Who is he bringing up?
2.  What is it about those potential conversations with my brother/sister that triggers me? Lord, what is your invitation to me here?
3.  How do I need to pray for my heart and my brother/sister?

1. What’s your experience as a ________-American or [enter your ethncity] at Epicentre?
2. What biblical conviction became more clear to you today?
3. What are one or two ways that you can  begin to live out that biblical conviction?
4. Who might God be inviting you to pray for and reach out to?

August 16, 2020 - Love In Proximity 

1. Whose life might Jesus be calling us to step into?
2. Are there fears which come up which might reveal biases or prejudices I still have inside me?
3. What's one practical thing I (or we) can do this week to step out of our comfort zone(s)?

August 9, 2020 - A Love That Responds

1. To whom or to what is Holy Spirit drawing your heart?
2. What does love in action mean in this situation?
3. Are there others, in your lifegroup, Home Church Live group or at Epicentre, whom God is calling you to invite into this place of need?

August 2, 2020 - There Are No THEM's, Only US'es

1. How does God want to fill you with His love today, so you may love your neighbors out of the same love He loves you with?
2. How am I falling short in allowing God to be my heart, soul, strength, and mind today?
3. How do I allow God to become these very parts of me (heart, soul, strength, mind)?
4. Are there neighbors you haven't begun to embrace as family in this season, as US’es? Ask God to show you the first step towards seeing your neighbors as US’es.

July 26, 2020 - Exceeding Expectations

1. Which character in the story do you relate to right now?
2. What areas in your life do you need Jesus to bring His realities into?
3. How can you neighbors in Home Church/Lifegroup be involved in this process?
4. How can you practically be the Samaritan this week?

July 19, 2020 - Don't Let Your Love Grow Cold

1. What might be causing my love to grow cold?
2. Is there anyone I'm having a hard time loving right now (either a specific person or particular people group)? Ask God to give you his love for this person/these people.
3. How can I continue to grow in love and let God flow his love through me?

July 12, 2020 - Who Is My Neighbor?

1. What kind of a neighbor am I?
2. Are there ways I need to repent for not being a good neighbor to those around me?
3. What kind of a neighbor might God be calling me to be?
4. Pray for God to help us be the neighbors we're meant to be.

June 28, 2020 - A Family Conversation With Clarence Hill on Race

1. How do the different scriptural passages that Pastor Clarence highlighted show us what God’s heart is and how we are invited to be a part of what He is doing today?
2. How has knowing some of Black History helped us to understand what is going on today in our nation and how we are to respond?
3. What’s a next step that you would like to take, however small it may be to acknowledge and love those who are different from you?

June 21, 2020 - Fathering the Next Generation

1. How is Father God speaking to you personally today?
2. Who can you be a father/mother/older brother/older sister to in this season?
3. What is something you have received from those older than you that you want to pass on to the next generation?

June 14, 2020 - Love & Unity for the Sake of the World

1. Share how you have encountered God’s love in your life. It can be one particular prayer experience you had or a scriptural passage/worship song that has been particularly meaningful to you.
2. In what ways do you desire to receive more of God’s love?
3. How do you feel encouraged/challenged to seek unity of the Body of Christ.

June 7, 2020 - Suffering and Friendship

1. How is Jesus inviting you to share in his suffering today?
2. Share what you reflected on during communion.

May 31, 2020 - Presence over Performance

1. How are we being present with God in order to cultivate friendship with Him?
2. Who are we interceding (intercession is sharing our hearts for others with God by bringing their real, felt needs they’ve expressed to us through friendship to God on their behalf) for out of the overflow of our friendship with God?
3. What are some other ways we overflow from friendship with God into friendship with others?

May 24, 2020 - Slave vs. Friend Mentality

1. How are you choosing to enter into friendship and be present with God in this season?
2. What identity is God speaking over you in yall’s friendship? How is He speaking and how are you listening? What are you sharing with Him and how is He listening?
3. How are you displaying vulnerability with Him in yall’s friendship (AKA - How are you choosing to be honest with God about what’s on your heart and going on in your life)?
4. What is exciting about your friendship with God? What is really hard about it?

May 17, 2020 - Selah Service

1. What are some things you miss or feel disappointed/frustrated over as a result of this season of quarantine?  How did God meet you in that place of lament during the Selah reflection time?
2. During the Second Movement on trust, who did God say He wants to be for you in this season?
3. Faith sometimes means declaring things that are not yet.  What are some hopes or thanksgiving you want to declare in the presence of your lifegroup/home church community today?
4. How was the Selah experience for you?  How can you incorporate a rhythm of selah into your life?

May 10, 2020 - Brooding Hen

1. Brooding is the process of bringing heaven onto earth. What dreams does God want you to go adopt and brood over in this season?
2. Where are you experiencing pain in loving or caring for others? How can we pray for you in this season?
3. Where is an area I can allow Jesus to co-parent with me or to help carry the burdens I have? What hope, strategy, or encouragement does He want to give?

May 3, 2020 - Keep Dreaming

1. What stood out to you from Pastor Josh's message?
2. What dreams has God given you or reminded you of through this series?
Or, if not sure yet, how can you carve out space in your schedule to let God continue to teach you how to dream with him?
3. What might it look like to enter more fully into God’s dreams this week?

April 26, 2020 - Racing with Faith

1. In what ways has he been growing your faith in this more challenging season? (Growing can also be a type of stretching.)
2. Who are some of the faithful Christians you know who have been an encouragement to you due to their faithfulness and perseverance in running the race?
3. What are some of the things (or weights) that are hindering us in the our faith as we run this race?
4. Who are some specific people he is speaking for you to run with in this season?

April 19, 2020 - Disappointment and Faith 

*You might consider breaking into smaller groups today so that people can feel safer to share more vulnerably.*

What stood out to you from Tammy’s journey of facing pain and disappointment?
Have you experienced pain or disappointment yourself that makes it difficult to trust God or believe that he is with you?
Are there any pains or disappointments that are coming to mind that you might want to bring to God or share with us about?Let's end by spending extended time to pray and wait on God for each other.

April 12, 2020 - Easter

Give people a few minutes to reflect on the reflection questions on their own.In

In Small Groups:
1) What does it mean to me that Jesus came out of the grave?
2) What would it look like to practically take the next step into Jesus' new reality this week?
